I wish you a happy holiday season.
2022 has been a good year for me personally. I have done many new things and I owe it to my friends, family, employees, and partners that I can do that.
I want to thank everyone who has helped or inspired me in the last years. But I also want to thank those who have let themselves be helped by me.
After a difficult 2 years due to Covid, my wife and I decided to spend some time outside of Germany in South Africa, while continuing to work remotely.
It’s been years of raising kids, keeping a business going, and the day-to-day activities in Germany. We decided it was time to distance ourselves from our typical environment and use one of the last years, where our children are still at home, to take on an adventure and spend time enhancing ourselves before the next chapter of life starts.
Working from abroad and all other challenges involved with it is not exactly easy. It is possible but one is dependent on friends, family, and partners.
Again, thanks to those who supported me. I really appreciate it.
Everything that works well, tends to continue to work but all processes or relationships that were only somewhat ok, collapse and must be replaced or repaired. The distance affects things in interesting ways.
The time abroad has improved my relationship with my wife and my two daughters immensely.
With this post I would like to highlight and share a lesson I have learned here in 2022.
My happiness is intimately connected to helping someone else, whether at work or privately and that my personal satisfaction depends on doing things that improve the lives of others.
I can help others and I enjoy it.
And I learned that this must be included in my day-to-day work and activities. Towards clients, friends, and just anybody I have contact with who then respond in beautiful ways.
The help has been in form of consultation, guidance, motivation, helping out with money, or even sitting down with people to teach them English.
With that I have learned new skills and I have found new ways to help myself and others – personally and in their business.
In closing, I would love to know more about you and
- what challenges you encounter and
- what you would like to improve, achieve or continue in 2023.
And I hope we can find ways to intensify collaboration in 2023 to do meaningful and worthwhile things.
Kind regards,
Steven Ruesch
